What is Femara?
One aromatase inhibitor that’s receiving a lot of attention right now is Letrozole. Letrozole is sold on the market under the trade name Femara. The compound was developed as an anti-tumor agent used to fight breast cancer among post-menopausal women. It worked by limiting the amount of estrogen that was synthesized by the body, thus denying tumors the hormones their cells needed to divide and grow. It was shown so effective at starving the tumors of estrogen that it was approved by the FDA for use.

But while it was developed to treat breast cancer, men have started using it as a bodybuilding supplement. The reason for this comes down to testosterone. Aromatase is an enzyme the body uses to convert androgens like testosterone into estrogen. Femara operates by frustrating this conversion process.
