Nolvadex

Nolvadex is one of the many trade names for a drug called Tamoxifen. Nolvadex is typically used as the first line of defense against breast cancer but bodybuilders have started using it as well. It was developed to block receptor sites inside the body from interacting with estrogen. This helped many woman stem the growth of breast cancer but now many men are claiming that it can help boost testosterone. Athletes have used drugs like this before to help create a more anabolic environment inside their bodies but is Nolvadex really worth trying?

How Does Nolvadex Work?

Nolvadex blocks cancer cell growth by inserting itself into certain receptors in order to prevent estrogen binding. Without receptor sites to bind to, the body cannot make use of estrogen. For men, this effect means that more testosterone is being used by the body than estrogen. This swing in hormonal balance makes it easier for a bodybuilder to stack on more muscle, increase his strength, and overhaul his body composition.

Aside from its antagonistic effects on estrogen, Nolvadex has been shown in some cases to help increase LH (luteinizing hormones). LH can help signal the production and secretion of more testosterone in the testes. This ability has made it very popular among steroid users who use it as part of their post-cycle-therapy.

How Effective is Nolvadex?

As we mentioned above, Nolvadex is currently used as the first line of defense against breast cancer. It may be decently effective at promoting more anabolic reactions in the body but there are other drugs that have been developed to more effectively suppress estrogen. If you really want to crack down on estrogen, you may be better off trying a different product than Nolvadex.
